Every community has its distinctive landmarks. We believe that they all have their distinctive sounds as well. On this page you can take a listen to some of the locally famous and not-so-famous musicians who help to define the "Oakley Sound." We also plan to include audio clips of various "environmental" sounds that can be found in Oakley. This project is in its experimental phase. If you have suggestions (or contributions) for this page we'd love to hear them.

Music

"Oakley Not Oakland" (3:00) | Ron Borland — Ron has been a favorite performer at the Oakley Almond Festival for the past few years, where he has recently served as the main stage coordinator. His music is perhaps best described as folk, with whimsical lyrics that often focus on Oakley and its Delta surroundings. "Oakley Not Oakland" takes a humorous look at a problem all residents of Oakley sooner or later face: trying to explain to outsiders that we don't live in that larger Bay Area city to our west. Our thanks to Ron for giving us permission to share his song here.

Attention Oakley musicians!

If you or members of your group are located in Oakley, we'd like to invite you to share a sample of your music on this page. You must be able to provide us with a copy of your song on CD or in MP3 format, and any lyrics must be suitable for a family audience. We also encourage you to submit a photo of your group and a short bio for inclusion in your writeup. We would be happy to provide a link to your Web site if you have one. If you would like to participate, please e-mail us.
